A Letter From the President

Dear All, AsalamuAlaikum,

It is with the greatest of honour and privilege to be given the opportunity to serve the community, for the last 15 years and undertaking various positions within the committee as a national council member, a sports convener, a functions convenor, an honorary Secretary and now the President, Alhamdulillah I have built up a special bond with the community. I am now looking forward to the exciting challenges that lie ahead under my term of leadership. We are in the process of implementing and introducing enormous changes within the Memon Centre. We have a refurbishment programme for the whole building in order to bring it up to a standard that can compete with the best of the ve star venues on this side of the river. Our new and improved Memon Centre will include features such a new mezzanine area on the rst oor exclusively to be used for the community as a social gathering place. The grand hall will be designed to form either two venues or one large venue by having bi-folding doors that allows this functionality and a full upgrade of all our facilities for both commercial and community use. We are anticipating completion of the works in spring of 2018.

In addition to the refurbishment works we are also in the process of employing a centre manager who will be able to market the centre to its maximum usage in order to maximise our revenue and in turn provide better service for our community. We will also, be updating our website to make it more appealing for not only attracting more business but also as a hub for all the information required by our community. The website will have professional high resolution images and a user friendly design in order to attract the maximum traf c. Furthermore, the publication sub-committee will be revived to provide all the news from the community and other activities taking place.

These are some of the key areas we will be concentrating on during our term of of ce and in addition to this there will be community functions, sports activities, welfare committee to include memon connections for families who are looking for suitable partners for their children of that age. The welfare committee will also be looking in to starting a senior citizens lunch club where the elderly of the community can meet up for a social gathering on a regular basis. There is a lot of work to be done and this cannot be done without a dedicated team of all the 17 members on the National Council and the backing of the 15 members of the Board of Trustees. It is not always easy to give up your spare time for the purpose of serving the community but there is great satisfaction to be felt when we all come together on to one platform and there is unity, love and the retention of our identity as Memons, Alhamdulillah.
